Hi,

I have a question about bottle roll tests. I dont have a roller but I do have 9 L glass jugs and a bench scale agitator.

To me that would achieve the same objective as a bottle roll test would. Would like to hear what you guys think?

I have tried to look for papers studying the statistics of the various testing methods but I had no luck.

My background is in Chemical Engineering, so while I am not quite familiar with specific "tried and tested" methods people use in the world of metallurgy, I know my reaction kinetics quite well. I'm actually trying to get bench scale data in order to model the reaction kinetics.

Thanks!

Depends- what's your solid to liquid ratio?

High S/L to simulate something like a heap leach would need something like a jar roll type test.

Low S/L (slurry) leaching could be done with an agitator, but the results from one test to the next might not be as easy to compare depending on the properties of the slurry in each test.

The slurry is at 56% density.

So I guess the big factor comparing the two scenarios is in the mixing factor? We have tested for rheology and its pretty consistent.

At that high % solids I would imagine that mixing would be a large part of the problem, and mixing of the wrong kind could affect the results a lot.

I see. How about the solids size? We will have about 75% - 80% passing 200 mesh.

Looks like getting the roller is the best option then.
