Length of Catenary/wire

I am wondering if anyone knows how to calculate the length of the wire between two points when the other variables like the tension, sag, weight of the wire are known.

If the two end points of the catenary are at the same height it can be shown that the length around the curve is given by
L[1 + (8/3)r^2 - (224/45)r^4 + ...]
where
L is the horizontal distance between the two end points
r = sag ratio = sag/L

For sag ratios up to 0.3 this formula has an error of less than 1%, but it deteriorates rapidly for larger sag ratios.
