Dear All,

Do anyone have idea about the application of ERS transmitter in Interface level measurement . I want to use this transmitters for interface level measurement. I searched on the internet but cannot found strong relative data. Though some Engineers are telling that it is possible to measure Interface with ERS. Now Anyone here knows about ERS interface application and configuration?? Please clarify this Query.

Thank you.

Don't think so. From the Rosemount website:
The Rosemount 3051S Electronic Remote Sensor (ERS) System is a flexible, 2-wire, 4-20 mA HART architecture that calculates differential pressure (DP) using two pressure sensors that are linked together digitally.

The only interface sensors I have seen are ultrasonic devices.

DP can provide an inferred level of an interface between two volumes of liquids of different densities.

But rather than having to write it all out again, read through this thread:

@djs : I have already read all related Documents generated by Emerson on ERS system. Even I had a conversation with Emerson Application Engineer. However, I was informed by one of my very experienced design Engineer that ERS can be used for Interface. This is the reason why I need confirmation and If we can I want to know methods for configuration also. check image over below given link..

@danw2 : Thanks for your answer. It will help me to clear my doubt. but plz post if you find any other strong data relate to ERS.

Thanks again.

Rosemount's ERS is a DP measurement system with two separate 'stand-alone' pressure transmitters that communicate with each other via a digital protocol. The DP is calculated from 2 gage pressure readings, rather than sensed directly by a DP cell.

The system is intended to eliminate the traditional problems of either remote seal capillary DP transmitters or wet legs.

Attempts at interface level detection by DP are not new by any means, my uncle was doing it with pneumatic DPs at the Shell refinery in the 1950's. The DP technology has gotten smarter. But the 'rules' still prevail.
