Ligament calculation as per ASME section VIII Div 1

ligament calculations are given as per UG-53 in section viii division 1. My question is can this calculation be used to calculated ligament efficiency for multiple holes in ellipsoidal head.

UG-42 addresses reinforcement for multiple openings. UG-42(e) permits the use of the UG-53 ligament rules only for cylindrical and conical shells.

Be careful. Sometimes it is convenient to increase the thickness of the head and avoid pads.

@r6155. yes i agree, welding pads for multiple holes on dish end is quiet tricky.
