Does anyone out there have design information (tables or otherwise) detailing preferred sleeper centres for varying rail weights and the recommended wheel loads that these arrangements can carry?

Also, does anyone know of any information on the theory behind rail & sleeper spacings as most info I have located seems to be empirically based (and very old too!!).

The generic standards are set and available from AREMA, but most transit companies have their own standards that are built up from there.
The most recent theories have been published in the AREMA magazine, "Railway Track & Structures". Don't ask me which month though.

In the UK concrete sleeper spacings are nominally 750mm or 700mm for 113lb/yard rail.
*Spacings are centre to centre
