LIME & STEEL - LONG TERM CORROSION QUESTION

I have a steel tower, approximately 7'x7'x35', that holds lime to treat min runoff. The long term effect of the lime and the structure is being questioned to determine if it has reached its service life or if it can continue to be used. Direct inspection is nearly impossible at this location. Any insight how lime affects steel after it is in direct contact for a substantial amount of time?

Quick lime, slaked lime or something else?

Lime is generally alkaline, which should help maintain a passivated layer on the steel.

Abrasion an issue?

Not sure on the type of lime, only that its used to treated acid drainage for mine runoff.
