If a part was welded, the welds were machined down and the part was rewelded again, then how many time can this be done. I understand each time the welding and machining changes properties in the metal, other than visual inspection is there any limits to the number of times this can be done. I am many concerned with Monel 400 but would like to know if there is a test regardless of the material. Should a hardness or chemical analysis test be done. How would I unsure that I have changed an astm standard for the material, fitting or piping. Is there any ASTM, AWS or ASME specifications which limit the number of rewelds in the same area.
