Dear all,
I would like to compare between Linear Dc motor, Brush permanent magnet DC motor and Brushless permanent magnet DC motor according to the following parameters:
1- Power/weight (power to weight ratio) or( the size at the same power)
2- efficiency
3- controllability
4- moving parts inertia
5- life-time
6-cost
7- reliability

Go to Kollmorgen website and you should be able to obtian this info for Brush versus Brushless.

Brushless DC (BLDC) motors are preffered when you require long life and high torque. Brush motors are simpler to develop and control, so good for prototyping.
