I dont think its possible, but is there a way to have a sketch in a model linked to a section that is released in windchill?

so there is a parent child releationship there so if I updated the released section it will flow down the chain?

No. You can link a part that contains a datum curve. This is how skeletons work. You need to use the correct selection methods, but unless the topology of the curve is unchanged I would expect to see failures.

yeah that is what I thought

I wanted to have company artwork controlled and released in windchill, and when people dont follow the rules and instead sketch the artwork directly onto the part to be able to see all the places where the released artwork is present and be able to do a mass ECO

vs looking through a million poorly modeled parts (facepalm)

You can use external copy geometry to import sketches or surfaces and insert image for .jpg/.pdf

You can have user defined features that lock some or all dimensions. I use them for electrical connectors that must meet interface requirements.
