Is there a way to link an excel spreadsheet to a calendar date?

For example, have a cell turn red on a specific date?

Or even better, turn yellow five days BEFORE the "red" date?

I'm thinking of recurring tool calibration cycles.

Enter =NOW() in the cell and the target date in another cell, then use conditional formatting to make it turn yellow when the cell value = target cell - 10 and red when cell value = target cell.

The solution is correct but uses another cell, which is not needed.
Use conditional formatting with Use Formula:
=A1>today()-10

This assuming your date is in A1. Keep the cell reference relative and you can paste this with the Format Painter to other cells.

Why an easy solution if you can make it complicated?
