LINUX SYSTEM BACKUP

I have a sony DVD burnner and would like to burn a DVD to backup my files. The software that came with the DVD burner is for windows base system.

My question is what do I need for software? Where can I get it?

I see several drivers available for Linux, but not sure which one to us. Your input is greatly appriciated and look forward to your remarks and comments.
