I have been comitted to assess the performances of some siemems vacuum pumps running in our plant for hydrate seed filtering.
Really, I have no idea how to do that, may I have some tips?

Why don't you contact the manufacturer, I'm sure they will be more than happy to give you advice on how to check the performance of these units.

Bab8977,

You will have to measure the effective suction capacity and power absorbed at 4-6 operating points starting from atm. pressure to your best possible vacuum.

also important to measure are
- seal water temperature:
measure the seal liquid flow, seal liquid inlet and out Temperatures in order to calculate with Pneurop the corresponding "standard capacity" (when using water at 15°C and air at 20°C).
Then compare your measured / actual performances with the performances std. curves of a new pump.
- rotating speed:
as it will affect the power absorbed

Nash-Elmo offer this kind of service but also many smaller repair/service companies.
Adresses are available on
hope it helps
