I'm trying to figure out how to use LL reduction in SAP2000. I did the following:

1. Define a load pattern called "Live" with type "Reducible Live."
2. Assign area loads uniform to frame (shell) to all the shells in the floor. Load distribution is one way.
3. Run the analysis. The axial load in an interior column indicates the full live load was used.
4. Run the steel design. Right-click on an interior column, then details. It lists RLLF = 1.0. The axial load is for the full live load.

Thus, it seems that using a "Reducible Live" didn't have an effect. I don't see a setting that seems like it would active the LL reduction calculations.

Any help or insight would be appreciated.

You probably have to define a trib area for the member....

Thanks. I don't see any way to do that, however. Besides, if I have to go member-by-member, story-by-story, then that's a LOT of time!

I just received a response from technical support. There is no automated live load reduction feature in SAP2000.
