Does anyone knows how can I apply a Load Combination in Ansys.
Say, I have assigned a list of different loads (including Load Steps and Sub-steps) and then I need to select and make a combination of them, multiply by a safety factor, and then run the analysis. Similar to what the structural oriented programs do.

Thank you very much

If you're using Workbench, simply add load steps. You can solve for any number of load cases.

Are you trying to do load superposition?

Thanks for your response flash3780.

I'm using ANSYS Mechanical APDL and actually I am having problems with creating and saving the load combinations (envelop), so I can call them in every time I need them. I need to do hundreds of them and incrementally apply safety factors.
I know how to use the Load Steps methods but it seems far too complicated for this Reinforced Concrete structure. I need to able to just call them on and off any time....

I was also told that I have to do superposition but I do not really know how this is working...

any ideas???

thank you again

One approach that might be helpful is to write a macro for each type of load you will impose. You could have the safety factor as one of the arguments. If you have uniform increments in the safety factor or other parameters, you could use a loop (or nested loops) to invoke the macros. If the increments are nonuniform, you could still use loops if you define the arguments in an array and step through that with your loop. If your analysis is strictly linear, then you only need to solve for a unit load of each type individually followed by post-processing in /POST1 in which you do the combining and scaling with load superposition.

Thank you kan123.
I will try it but I am pretty sure that I need to write a script, which is something I will do for first time. I need to do a short of optimization study...so ANSYS decides which is the worst case scenario.

Does anyone knows about scripting in ANSYS?

Thank you again!
