Hi guys, I am running static RIKS with imperfections based on eigenvalue buckling modes analysis, therefore have outputted the eigenvalue buckling results to a .fil file.

However the RIKS job cannot find this file, i have copied the .fil into all the directories I have used (must admit these have changed over time)

so where does Abaqus try to load this .fil from? or any suggestions as to where I should put the file to be found?

thanks for any help - at the end of my tether with this one - nearly lost Saturday afternoon....:(

The .fil file should be placed at the same directory of the .inp file that is your working directory. However, the problem is usually something else. Make sure you are defining the imperfection correctly and in the right level.

Good luck

Thanks Mohammad, had done a full re-install prior to seeing your post which fixed the problem with the skewed directories....

i'm having another problem atm - I have a cylinder shell with end axial loads, (one end fixed)

when i apply a shell edge load in the RIKS step I can't seem to be able to find the load output in the history output request is there any advice you might be able to give here?
