I will appreciate if you suggest a solid book on the subject of cracking of reinforced concrete members, the practical side of it.

You're going to get a million answers here. I think you might want to tailor your question a bit.

OK Jayrod12

A book that an inspector/repair team would refer to in dealing with cracks that appear in a reinforced concrete building or structure in general.
Strange that in RC handbooks I have read there is not a chapter on this.

Thanks

Maybe start here: ACI 224.1R-07 Causes, Evaluation, and Repair of Cracks in Concrete Structures, available here: Link

It will lead you on at least 3 pathways...cause, evaluation and repair. Good luck.

ACI's website concrete.org has a lot of info and a good search function of abstracts of papers, research, case studies etc.

This isn't exhaustive but it's free and figuring out the cause(s) of cracking is always a good place to start: Link

Here a link to a nice paper on concrete repair that provides a number of procedures applicable to a field evaluation & repair. Link
