Hi,
My classmates and I are doing a final project (undergraduate mechanical engineering).
The project is for a motorized walker for senior citizens living in hilly areas.
We are looking for an electric hub motor that's optimized for low speeds (up to 100 rpm, about 180-300w) and we are having trouble finding the specified motor.
If anyone knows where I can find such a motor, it would be of great help.

Thanks,
Elisei

How about a bicycle hub motor? One of the smaller models might do.

The problem with bicycle hub motors is that they're optimized for higher speeds. If we use a motor that's optimized for bicycles that means that it's efficiency at lower speeds will be reduced. Hence we'll need a more powerful motor and we'll need more batteries, increasing the weight and cost of the final product.

I find it hard to see the utility of a motorized walker. Spring loaded wheels that lift the feet of the walker when there is no weight on it seems more useful. Of course a Segway would be another option.
