Hello,
I am looking for a non-linear beam model tool (solves for bending and twist) on structural elements. It needs to be open-source. In Python would be a plus. Any ideas? or do I need to invest time in more advanced/complete FEA tools like Code_Aster or Calculix?
Thanks, Bb

Don't know of any nonlinear ones, there's an excel linear one called 3DFrame, made by a user here.

That would be me. Thanks for the mention, and the reminder of this thread.

Most recent version is at:
3DFrame

There is a non-linear version in the works, but there are many other things in the works as well, so don't hold your breath.

It's Excel spreadsheet based, and will remain so, but I am working on a Python version, using xlwings.

You might like to look at OpenSees as well, which is written for earthquake analysis, but can be used for static analysis. I'm pretty sure it will do non-linear, and it is definitely open-source (but there is also a huge amount of code, so it's not easy to find the code for any specific function).

Any questions or suggestions on 3DFrame, please let me know.
