Hi,
Our company interested in developing wet coatings processes. Our coatings are single layer, 4-10 microns in thickness (wet) and our product specs dictate that we can not use spin coating or any of the vacuum coating techniques. That limits the choice to slot type coaters, roll coaters, or rod (such as Meyer rod) coaters. These coatings will be done on glass: upto 400x400mm sheets. The liquids are shear thinning with zero shear viscosity around 5 Poise. Also, these coatings are for optical applications in the LCD industry. So, require very high precision equipment and the manufacturing will be done in a clean room. The last requirement might not be a must during the process dev phase. Currently we are in prototyping phase of the process equipment and have quite a few prototypes. But we can use help from some experts in the field who already have a feel for different coatings techniques, so we don't end up re-inventing the wheel. What would also be most helpful is if this expertise comes from a company which has prototype/lab scale coatings equipment where we can try different coatings approaches.
I would appreciate any recommendations on where to go for expertise (preferably and/)or process development facility.
