Looking for other companies that use Inventor 6 1

We are Sage Automation located in Beaumont, TX.; sagerobot.com. We use Inventor 6.0, and like the program features, but are having some difficulty with the program performance. We are having trouble locating any other companies using Inventor and I would love to bounce a few ideas off of anyone willing to listen. I would not be asking how to navigate or use the program, but I would love to know how we could optimize it's performance. I would appreciate any help in this matter. Thanks.

This lad sat down and put some thought into it. Downside we couldn't apply some of these because of the way we work (ie network). We've already had some of these in place, but some adding other changes also boosted performance. Alot of it revolves around your video card, and the settings around it (ie silhouettes and edge display). There are other simple things like partitioning your hard drive and moving your temp files and page file that we've found helped.

Another tip that may help is creating design views with everything off. We work with 10000 part files we open the file with everything off and turn sections on at a time.

On a personal note, I'm not too sure about XP. We have similar machines, some with XP and others with 2000, and the 2000 blows XP away

I use to be a Autodesk AE. You should contact the Company you bought it from and explain your situation. If they can not help you should contact ADSK direct. With all the war going on between MCAD software. You should get more support.

The company I work for uses Inventor 6. We had problems when we first started using it because of the size (10meg) of the assemblies that we needed to create. We added RAM to a minimum of 1 gig and it helped a great deal. We also made sure that we were using a certified (?) graphics card. We had one assembly that went from a load time of 2 hrs down to 20 minutes. I think that Inventor 7 has fixed many of the memory and speed problems that they created in 6. We are still waiting for our copies to show up and see if it is true.

My advice is to switch to a better program like Solidworks

One of them in Inventor 6, the second in Solid Works 2003.
I should choose, what from these CAD systems we shall apply.
My opinion subjective, concerns to manufacture of the equipment for oil refining.
In my opinion Inventor it is easier in work, demands less the mouse klicks.
But in Solid there are some things which very much does not suffice in Inventor.
As a whole Inventor to me has liked hardly more, but about purchase any of these systems I while cannot make a final conclusion.
