Hello,

I am looking for a solid and reliable 24VDC MSW inverter for 120V outputting around 1000W. I own a PowerBright 24V, 900W inverter which does a very good job but I recently recommended that same model to two friends and they both had a very bad experience: one was bad out of the box and the other died after a week of usage. So either there is a quality control issue or they did a new revision of the circuit board.

Any suggestions on good inverters?

huh? how do you conclude this from such a small sample?

they did a new revision of the circuit board

quite a weird assumption jump huh? when did a revision on a pcb automatically point to reason for a failure?

I would not jump to any conclusion from this... ok, maybe I would make one hypothesis to check out: that your two friends misapplied it. it is much more likely they overloaded the outputs or exceeded the max input voltage.

Both installations were executed by me and they both had my unit as a test before - my unit worked flawlessly in the exact same setup. I have lost confidence in that unit now.
I am just looking for recommendations for a solid inverter that is reliably able to run a refrigerator.

What's the electrical rating of your refrigerator?

The plate reads 7A, 120V. Measuring the DC draw by the inverter I get 150-160W once its running and 1500-1600W to start the compressor. That start surge is about half a second long.
