Hello Folks,

We have been asked from a Building Vendor to locate the louvers on the walls.

This is a process buiding with compressors, pumps, vessels,.

Dimension is 28 m long by 22 m wide.

In the emegency case we need to run the fans to get 12 air changes per hour to minimize the harm from gases.

The exhaust fans are located on one end of the buiding say West.

The question is: is it better to install louvers all around the walls, or only on the wall on the opposite side of the fans wall (East wall).

Since the purpose is to remove fumes in an emergency, make sure the fumes are between the fans and louvers. You want to get a sweeping effect with the ventilation air. If the fumes are generated everywhere, then louvers on all sides may make sense. Just make sure you don't put them too close to the fans opr make them too big, otherwise you will get "short-cycling" of the air stream and you will not properly ventilate the space. It sounds like the fans are already in place otherwise I might suggest the roof. By the way, are these flume heavier or lighter than air? In other words do the rise up to the ceiling or drop to the floor?

Thanks for the reply.
The fumes are heavier than air and will drop down.
