low pressure water hydraulic cylinder for clamping/workholding jig, tap-water pressure

Hello,
I am a fabricator looking for recommendations for a low pressure water hydraulic cylinder that can be connected to a municipal water supply (NYC- approximately 60 psi)
Im looking for something with a short stroke- ~3" max, piston diameter ~3/4", that can be used to apply clamping pressure in a work-holding jig. I am hoping to have a kind of quick-clamp that gets its clamping force from a connection to the plumbing in the building. This is an oddball application that in this case needs to be water-pressure activated.

I have had some difficulty in finding recommendations for such a low pressure water hydraulic cylinder. I would prefer not to build my own from scratch, and would rather have something off-the-shelf that can be connected and tested. The clamping jig would be cycled only a few times per day, so this does not need to be an extreme-duty part. Im looking for something light duty for the purposes of testing my workholding setup.

Can anyone recommend a suitable cylinder for this application?

First off:

60PSI and a 0.75" diameter give a specific force.
∏ (0.75/2) x 60 = 26 lbs of force.

Is that paltry sum enough?

Regarding the force- yes, 26 lb is enough to do the job.

Perhaps these excellent rubber lined cylinders so the water never touches metal.

Or an isolator that keeps water on one side and air on the other.

Or use a small gas cylinder and skip the water.

Or a tiny air compressor.

Why don't you try some syringes?

Most seem capable of at least 100 pso

You cam get a packet very cheaply to try it out.

Have you measured the water pressure to verify that you actually have about 60 psi? Also, can your application deal with brief dips in water pressure? I don't know how consistent your water pressure is, but even a very brief dip in pressure can cause your clamp to release and your work-piece to move with a hydraulic clamp (unless you have an accumulator in the system).

Just for my own curiosity, can you share what about your application necessitates a water pressure activated clamp and precludes using a manual or pneumatic toggle clamp?

Water cylinders off garden hose pressures are used in some pool lifts. These lift handicapped people in and out of the water. If you google it you can maybe see what kind of details they use. Or download the manual. I would not think there is anything special they do, but you never know. Of course, they use longer strokes.
