I'm working on the design of an offshore platform in a cold environment -45C design and -35C is a realistic ambient temperature. I have a 5 tonne jib crane with a electric monorail, the jib is also electric with 270 Degrees of rotation. The crane is in a Zone 1 area and I need IEC Eexd electrics. (I need the cranes to assist in load/unloading pigs in an unencloused pigging area, the intellegent pigs can be up around the 4 tonne mark)I cannot seem to find a crane that can operate below -20C, I'm told the Eexd motors for crane and the Eexd rated cables will not fuction below -20C, I have also been told that the slewing ring and other structural components will not take "load" under -20C. Does anyone know of any other options available for cranes that may function at these temperatures? I'm thinking about a API 2C Type A crane with a heated encclosure over the slewing ring/controls?
