Dear friends,

Does anybody kbow what the standard to verify fuses interrupting capabilities is?

I mean, we alredy look at IEEE red book, violet book and nobody talk about low voltage fuses.

For medium voltage there are some other standards but, we are not fully sure if the procedure recommended to evaluate MV fuses is the same for LV ones.

Any suggestions will be welcome!!

Hello,

If you mean a device to control burning out of fuse link that there are manufactures which produce it for LV fuses.

For understanding of fuses interrupting characteristics you can see IEC standards (IEC 60269). There are gG and aM modification for power line and motor protection.

Here are a couple standards that apply to low voltage fuses..

* ANSI/UL 248-1 and NMX-J-009/248/1-2000-ANCE, "Low-Voltage Fuses - Part 1: General Requirements"

* ANSI/UL 248-2 and NMX-J-009/248/2-2000-ANCE, "Low-Voltage Fuses - Part 2: Class C Fuses"

* ANSI/UL 248-3 and NMX-J-009/248/3-2000-ANCE, "Low-Voltage Fuses - Part 3: Class CA and CB Fuses"

* ANSI/UL 248-4 and NMX-J-009/248/4-2000-ANCE, "Low-Voltage Fuses - Part 4: Class CC Fuses"

Not sure what you are trying to find out about lv fuses; but NEC 110.9 deals with code related issues related to fuses.

A manufaturer of lv fuses is Cooper Bussmann, and they have some application guides that deal with lv fuses and their interrupting capabilities. There is a guide called "SPD Selecting Protective Dvices". I tried uploading it, but I have the feeling it was too big and the site did not like it; the answer to what you are looking for may be there.

Dear guys,

I want to say thank you for this information, we will look for them and try to go deeper inm our knowledge.

By the way,mcgvr, where are you from?, because you are refferring some mexican standards.

Best Regards
