Hello,

I'm working on a large aboveground LPG bulk storage facility (2 x 50,000 Gal bullets), and would like to check the required separation distances between the storage facility elements and drains, sewers and pits, where gas could accumulate should we have any leaks.

The only reference I can find is a 25ft requirement between 'Point of Transfer' and 'Building Openings or Pits at or below the point of transfer'.

Any comments?

Thanks.

Table 6.3.1 of NFPA 58. NFPA 58 does not stipulate a separation distance in case of a leak. If your system is leaking, it is in violation of NFPA 58.

Thanks Stookey.

There are no leaks. I was of the understanding that there were required separation distances between elements of an LPG storage facility (which have the potential to leak at some stage during the life of the equipment) and pits, drains, sewers, where LPG gas could accumulate unnoticed.

Thanks.
