We are operating cross country LPG pipeline system.
We have PRV, to reduce the pressure of LPG from 20 Kg/cm2 to 9 kg/cm2. But i feel that we can replace the PRV with Turbine expander, which will letdown the pr & produce electricity.

Does my idea work...?
Can someone help me in turbineexpander for LPG...?
If you came across such a system, the do give me the details.

It is called liquid expander and quite a common equipment now in modern LNG plant. As far as I know Flowserve and Ebara Cryodynamic are in the market.

lets say you had a BIG pipeline moving 100,000 bbls per day of LPG (95% purity propane). Given your conditions you might get 150KW worth say $250 US per day. The system that big would cost a million or more US dollars.

It would also need 10 to 15 KW of power to run the oil pumps and coolers.
