Hi,

It is my first time to design a pedestrian bridge using the LRFD Guide Specifications for Design of Pedestrian Bridges. The specs did not mention that seismic load shall be considered in the design of a pedestrian bridge. Is my understanding correct?

It’s up to the owner. If they want seismic design it would be in accordance with the LRFD bridge specs.

...but, I'm not a pedestrian, I'm a Catholic.

Don't see why you would not design it for seismic loads. If the bridge is constructed in California, seismic is kind of a big thing there.
