LVPECL I/O Standard

Hello,

Could anyone recommend some good information on the LVPECL standard and the internal architecture of the LVPECL devices? Is this a well defined standard?

Are all LVPECL open emitter devices, or do some have internal pull down resistors to keep the devices active when they are not loaded with an external resistor?

Also does anyone have any example circuits and/or information for interfacing an LVPECL device to an Altera Cyclone II FPG?
