Machine Foundation Reinforcement Details

Hello,

i am designing a machine block foundation (5'deep). I provide reinforcement near all faces, but one of my coworkers recommend that i add intermediate layer of reinforcement.

are intermediate horizontal rebars of two-way reinforcing needed for concrete block/foundation 5' deep( with vertical reinforcement)?

have anyone deal with heavy machine foundation?
Machine concrete block foundation reinforcement references
or just reinforcement near all faces and provide chair for top steel gonna be enough.

Ask your coworker for reference. If none provided, do it your way, which is the common way to reinforce the exposed surfaces only.

Provide min reinf. 0.002 *A ( some codes suggest 0.0015 ) at every direction for shrinkage and temperature and the reinf. cage near to the surface.
The vertical chair reinf . should be provided to support to rebar mesh.
