Anyone have a macro to save a part file as a step or parasolid? If you have one to save a assembly to a part file that would be usefull also.

thanks

If it was 1 or 2 files... We need to save our whole database of catalog parts maybe 2000 parts and assemblies if not more. To supply to our customers who want to design the tools themselves.

Task scheduler can save as step and parasolid but only one or the other it has to open the file twice not a huge deal and we have a macro to extract configurations to invdidual files but those individual assemblies then need to be saved as part files.

So I guess i only need a macro to save an assembly as a part file.

Thanks.

I just re-read your second post. PAC4SWX won't do what you are asking for. My apologies for the quick response.

batch saving would be nice. Anything to spead up the process would be helpfull.

Shaggy Pac4 wont save assembly to part?

Like I said all we really need is save assembly to part. Task scheduler can do the rest usless some has something better.

Maybe this thread559-209635 can help you. You can record a saveas process to figure out what to put inside the loop(s)

grunt58,
Sorry, you didn't say for 'batch' at first.
Other's suggestions will work.
Thanks.

There is actually a thread on the SolidWorks Discussion Forum about the BatchProcess software that I suggested above.

The thread can be found here (I think you may need solidworks subscription):

The last input from the author (Luke Malpass) states that he just added functionality to saveas assemblies to parts.
Here is the link again to the download site:

I have not downloaded this software, but it sounds pretty slick.

works. I emailed him and he added assembly to part. It will do parasolid and step.

found a slight problem though that it fails .sldasm not .SLDASM though. We get .sldasm from another program that breaks assembly configs up in to individual assemblies.

Solidworks reconizes .sldasm and opens them...

Thanks
