Hello,

I'm working on magnetic simulations by means of finite element method, and I've had problems to find magnetic properties on the web.
¿Do you know any website with data for different steel grades? At this moment I'm trying to find magnetic properties (Bsat, BH loop, etc.) for AISI 1215 steel.

Thank you in advance.

I'm not aware of any websites with that type of information, one generally has to search the literature, or else pay a service to measure the magnetic properties for a particular grade.

Would this be close enough to 1215 steel? thread340-129625

One caution. When you are using common steels, not magnetic steels, the magnetic porperties may vary greatly from lot to lot. The processing is not desinged to control the magnetic properties, only chemistry and mechanicals.

dgallup,

Thanks for the data. Can you provide the source?

Thanks.

Looking back at my source, that data is actually for 12L14, not 1215. Sorry. We had it tested by a major producer of magnetic alloys to have data comparable to their specialty alloys. We use it for magnet FEA too. EdStainless is exactly right that the properties are not controlled from lot to lot. Never the less, 12L14 and 1215 are widely used for non-critical magnetic applications.

Here is what I use for 1215, you can see it is not very different:

123.307 18.00

Both sets of data are fully annealed.

a good and reliable properties web-page is:

you can check it, but for a specific steel you should come direct in contact with the supplier. Otherwise you cannot find a lot and reliable datas.

janas21:
Matweb is indeed a good site, but it does not have BH data, which is what the OP requested.
