Hello, I am helping a company taht has a roof protected with a membrane that feels like pvc, be it or not, after 10 years it has become stiff and at some places is breaking ans the joints are going separated. Does any one have any recomendations on how to repair it?, I believe there are some products to return the membrane it`s flexibility and make it last longer. I read somewhere that UV rays make oils from some polymers go away???
Thanks in advance

PVC, both rigid & plasticized, gets destroyed by sunlight (UV). Gets brittle and cracks at very low stress (after a few years). Exposed PVC pipe (rigid) is commonly painted for protection. Much harder for paint to adhere to flexible vinyl, but can do after a solvent wipe.

As to repairs: I think the PVC polymer structure is damaged, so not much point adding plasticizer. Either replace the whole, or patch overlays as needed. The PVC cement sold for rigid PVC will not work for flexible vinyl, but I've bonded flexible vinyl using a special cement (tetrahydrofuran? containing dissolved PVC) from Flexi-Liner:

Thank you so much for your help, I believe we will recomend changing all the material, after 10 years it has reached it`s life expentancy.
