Making rope!!

Two things.
Any ideas how I can take a sweep that looks like Rope and make “Flatten” it somewhat. By flatten I mean make it appear as rope that has been driven over
by a truck. (The sweep path that I am using is a helix.)

Next, how about making the same rope shape appear bent. I have been trying to use guide curves with no success.

I'm open to any thoughts.

Check out this link. It was posted on comp.cad.solidworks. It's for a sheet metal spiral tube with bends. Kind of like a cardboard paper towel roll with a 90 bend. It may help you out with your rope.
