manipulating the model using different views

there must be an easy way to advance through the model in one plane along column lines, or do you have to create an entirely new view when you want to zero in on an interior section of the building model?

my trouble begins when i try to model the interior walls throughout a large building. so far all i have been able to do is create many different views, which is often very confusing.

any advice on how to simplify this problem?

Again, the GTSTRUDL CASE Center technical support team can show you several ways in which such graphic manipulation can be performed. It is, in fact, very easy. I do that frequently.

You have to use STAAD.Pro for any graphical display. Strudl is outdated for these types of things. To properly use Strudl you have to use their text commands. They have a translator to go back and forth. IMO, they should sell what they have to a market leader like STAAD rather than continue to sell a crappy environment.

mr fleisher,

you are so far wrong, if you think that the graphic environment of STAAD represents market leading software then you have been walking with your head in the clouds for many moons now. I do not know the capability of Strudl or its graphics, but I do know that they would have to be diabolically bad to be worse than staad's (I'm sure Mickey Mouse and his crew could knock out an environment better than that in a couple of days).

I agree with fliesher. Even Strudl's own customers at their own conference prefer to use STAAD's graphical model generator. Look at and see what Parson's has to say. They use STAAD to create the model. arniec, as usual, you have no clue. No wonder you are on this board.

lippie,

Like i said, i do not know what the GUI capabilities of Strudl are - therefore I can only assume they are diabolically bad if author of this presentation chooses staad graphics over strudls.

You seem to be a great advocate of STAAD - one wonders how much longer it will be around with the reports on the stock exchange casting grave doubts over their future in the short term. I hope you have the good sense to get out whilst the going is "good".

I wouldn't say an advocate as much as a cognizant user. As for the stock, again arniec, you did not do your homework. All it takes is a little surfing. You let your emotions get in the way of making a lucid response. REI, which is owned by NetGuru, is a very profitable division. Actually, their revenues increased over last year. It is NetGuru's other divisions that are not profitable. I don't know why they have engaged in these markets, but that's not the point. Take a look at their annual report or their quarterly filings. Their int'l sales are up by 10% and domestic up by 8%. If you don't know how to read a balance sheet, let me know. As for your indignation (bordering on being truculent), where does it come from? Bad experience? Did you work there and got canned?
