-I have the idea going through a patent at the time.
I would like some feed back and possible suggested CVT's that can go through a modification that allows the driver to adjust the ratio of a cvt "manually". I designed a center console with a "Slider" airplane throttle-like shifter that will have P, R, N, and Drive being a large area to move, shift, slide, up and down. The shifter's location on the console, will be connected mechanichally (linkage) or electronically (hardware) to the Ratio control of a cvt.
I have superiors that would help me out with the modification of a car and a tranny that seems affordable.
But what models to choose from? Should I sell the idea off to a manufacture? Or folow it through myself?
Any questions to this idea please post for feedback.

You could set your control to work like BMW - like the controls on a car CD player.
Tap the buttons and you move backwards and forwards in fixed steps, eg to next track, track after that.
Hold the buttons and they fast forward you backwards and forwards through the song(s).
In the same way, tapping the buttons moves you through simulated manual fixed ratios and holding the buttons smooth scrolls you through the gears.

Keep in mind that CVT's are not very strong and constantly run on the ragged edge of slipping and chewing things up. A lot of design effort goes into precise control of the speed changes and torque limits on the chain and sprickets. At the present time there is little margin available for extra sprocket pressure or chain tension. I think it be like trying to fly an F117 without the computer.
