Hi,

What are the different manufacturing processes that can be considered for a Helicopter fuselage engine access door? Kindly Suggest!

Sure, here are the details:



Fire containment required - YES

Operating vibration/noise/sonic and air-loads environment? - Pushing Out

Upper, side or lower location - Major part to Lower and some to the Side (it's side and lower)

Expected abuse or maintenance loading, IE: wind? maintenance - As of now NO data

Does the door have louver or screen air vents - NO

Door hinge and thumb-latching... or... panel fasteners [quick-turn] all-around - Hinge & Latch Mechanism

How many aircraft do You intend to install this door on, IE: 1 or 1000? - Max 5 - 10

Private use? Civil use? Military use? - Private Use

The need to be a fire barrier probably rules out composites, though it depends on the specific fire regulations and requirements that need to be complied with.
Also, the low number of aircraft also probably rules out composites due to tooling costs.
So a metal design is probably appropriate. Machined frames/stiffeners riveted to sheet metal skin would likely be first choice. Material selection probably depends on fire requirements.

I found few images in google, any idea how they might be formed/constructed. I'm very interested to know about 1st image (Engine Bay-1). I didnt see any support frames for this type. How that would be possible? OR was structural frame covered with a thin sheet?

And for second image, I can see some semi structure frame and other part is covered again.

Please suggest.
