How do we determine that a reinforced masonry wall has nominal ductility? This is in order to determine the force modification factor "R", for seismic design.
Yes in my case I have to use Masonry based on the Architects requirements. The force modification factor "R" I was asking about is used in the NBC (Canadian code) for seismic design. The code states values for R if the masonry wall has nominal ductility and other values for reinforced and unreinforced masonry walls. So I wanted to know the definition of "nominal ductility" and how to determine this status.
