In a high seismic zone (South Carolina) I have a 4" block wall connected to a 12" block wall. I have specified an anchor that ties back the 4" block to the truss type horizontal joint reinforcing at 16" o.c. It happens to be a Hohmann and Barnard product that the contractor says is a long lead item. Any alternate type anchors that you have successfully used?

The Pos-i-tie systems are more for a stud backup, but Heckmann has other products that tie a masonry veneer to a block backing. Also look at WireBond as another alternate: And I am sure everyone knows this, but don't let the contractor use corrugated metal ties. They do not transfer loads or accommodate movement like wire ties.

I've found the Hohmann and Barnard technical support staff to be very helpful when I've called them in the past. Probably a good resource for lead times and alternative product suggestions.

Ladder type joint reinforcement is more appropriate for block walls than truss type since truss type can interfere with the vertical rebar locations. Ladder type provides just as much strength as truss type joint reinforcement.
