I am designing a building where I need to used shear walls at various loacations along the building wall. In finding the shear (v) I used the [uniform loading x tributary width between shear walls]/2 and in calculating the stress I used the length of wall as the (d) factor. (M/Vd)

Would this be a correct approach and does any have any suggestions as to good examples for this case.

Thank you.

d will be less than the wall length. Check the definition for d in the ACI 530 or your applicable masonry code.

Your diaphragm load distribution is accurate if you have a flexible diaphragm. You can check in your building code to determine if you have a flexible or rigid diaphragm, or somewhere in between.

UcfSE,

Thanks for the input. It is greatly appreciated.
