Material compatability - Lines of flux

Hi,

I am current working on generating power by placing magnetic blades inside a metal shaft, when the blades rotates the lines of flux should induce emf on the coil wrapped on the outer surface of the metal shaft.
My concern is will metal shaft (aluminum or steel) allow lines flux to induce coil, or the shaft should be made of plastic material.

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Metallic shafts (aluminum or steel) will work against you. Use a plastic material.

Can you describe more about what this is supposed to do?

I am trying to generate power inside liquid flow path, & I have high pressure liquid acting on this shaft, that's the reason it should be metallic.
Any chance of using Iron to transmit magnetic flux?

Austenitic steel, but a detailed check is required, as some ferrite will still be there, especially in welds, and some electrical conductivity also is present.
