Dear All

Does anyone knows what are the ASME Standar Material equivalent to these 2 Chinese standard material 15CrMoG & 12CrMoVG in terms of the allowable stress? Because i need to find the Minimum Wall thickness for these 2 materials.

Any reference would be greatly appriciated.

Best Regards,

Unless they are listed in ASME BPV Section II, Part D OR by Code Case, there is no allowable stress.

Yup i know, so what material is close to represent this in terms of allowable stress?

Great. So how does one to calculate the minimum wall thickness?

For starters you have not stated your service temperature. You would need to know how the tensile properties are reduced if exposed to elevated service temperature. This information is obtained by plotting and anchoring the tensile data starting at room temperature. If you made it this far, take the UTS and divide by 4 and take the YS and multiply by 0.67, whichever is lower you select for the appropriate service temperature. Once you have this information look at the code book section for the formula used for piping, tubes or headers minimum thickness, if you have a code book section.

What Code are you designing to? The Chinese boiler code? Get a copy. That is the only way to know.

I'm not quite sure which chinese boiler code is available outthere which i should get for this task and whether the english version exist?

Based on information from metalinfo.com, 15CrMoG appears similar to P11 in composition. I couldn't find an exact match for 12CrMoVG, but the 12CrMoV designation in Chinese standards refers to 0.5Cr 0.5Mo 0.25V steel, which I understand is not so common in the states.

However, the prudent course of action is as per metengr recommendations.

Does anyone knows where can i get an official copy for the Chinese Standard GB 5310? Does anyone knows where is the official website to buy this and whether the english version of it is available? As far i know this is the standard for those two materials 15CrMoG & 12CrMoVG. Hopefully there is someone who knows the Chinese standard which points to the max Allowable stress table of those two materials for a set of temperatures & how to calculate their minimum wall thickness the chinese standard way...
