Hello everyone.

I need some help choosing the right polymer for a hand-held workout device. I am designing/building a product for a buddy that will hopefully be sold commercially someday. The shape and size will be similar to that of the "Perfect Pushup".

For now, the parts for it will be milled using a cnc machine. The parameters are as follows:

1) Strong enough to hold the body weight of an average human
2) Impact resistant as it will be used in a weight room
3) Low cost
4) Easily molded into a block for milling
5) Able to recycle leftovers for molding new blocks as most of the material will be shaved off during milling

Originally ABS was what I thought would be best, due to that being what the perfect pushup is made from. But, after much reading I'm not so sure and feel that you guys can help guide me in the right direction. Or maybe what I'm trying isn't even feasible...

Any help/thoughts would be greatly appreciated,

Rob

We are plastics specialists, not gym equipment experts.

My exercise equipment is a lawn mower, picks shovels, wheel barrow, axes, chain saws, trowels, crow bars, edge trimmers, hedge trimmers, cement mixer etc etc.

Did I forget to mention I was looking for the best type of plastic to use??...

Did I forget to mention that I have no idea what a "Perfect Pushup" is or how it works and how your friends device differs and therefore what material properties are required.
