Hello All,
For one of our projects, we need to select proper material for a pipe containing melt plastic contaminated with Bromide and Chloride. Following is the operating condition:
[li]Design pressure: 50 bar[/li]
[li]Design Temperature: 420 °C[/li]
[li]The contamination of bromide and chloride is not clear yet.[/li]
The client asks for using glass-lined steel to prevent corrosion, but pipes with this material are not available for the above design condition. My search shows SS316 is not applicable for use in wet Bromide and Chloride contamination. There are two questions:
1- A wet environment shall include water or melt plastic is an example of a wet environment?
2- If we consider it wet or dry, do you have any experience with material selection for this application?
Thank you.
