Material Selection for Pumping High Chloride Content

The customer has a need for pumping a high chloride content fluid (77000ppm). The temperature range is 20-40C and the pH is in the 6.9 to 7.3 range

We do offer an aluminum bronze fluid end and 416SS shaft sleeve on our pumps, but am not sure if that high concentration of chlorides will be too much even for aluminum bronze and 416SS to handle.

Does anyone know of published charts that show what is the maximum chloride content that can be safely handled by Aluminum Bronze and 416 SS?

LittleInch.....the pressure will be about 60psi. They havent told us about the presence of oxygen, but did say they have calcium and sodium bicarbonate in this produced water that is coming from an underground formation.

Once water reaches the surface it contains oxygen.
And considering that this water is twice as salty as seawater you are right to hesitate.
At these levels I would be thinking about cast duplex (2205) fluid end and monel shafting.
There are other options that would work also.

Thanks a lot, EdStainless......yes I have directed them to pursue stainless options. We can't offer that but I would rather lose the business than sell them something that will cuase problems for them down the road.

I consider this issue closed for now.
