Material Substitute for load bearing part

Good afternoon,

I have a customer part and would like to propose a switch due to material availability in my area. See below my options avialable.

Customer asked for .177-A656-Grade 50

Option 1: .1875-ASTM-A572-Grade 50
Option 2: .179-A715 Min grade is 50

The part is holding a heavy load cantilevered off the side of a vehicle. If I were to propose a material deviation, which would be the best?

He asked for A656 High-strength, low-alloy (HSLA) steel usually in plate.

You are offering -
A572 High-strength, low-alloy (HSLA) structural steel
A715 (Withdrawn 2000) High-strength, low-alloy (HSLA) steel usually sheet or strip ?.

Sounds like they designed the part ?
I think the customer needs to determine what is OK, and better.

heavy load cantilevered. Are you making crane boom etc?
Is welding involved ?
Is forming/bending involved ?

All of our materials for this application would come in as sheet and we'd laser cut.

Yes, our customer designed the part. I'd like to propose a new material to them without them doing too much up front work as they have limited staffing. However, if I propose something that makes sense, it'll be a little less work on their end.

This product cantilevers[li][/li] 2 RV batteries off the side of a frame-rail. Welding and forming are both involved.
 
Add A514 to that list. It's readily available in 3/16" thickness if that's acceptable.
