What are the most common materials used for butterfly valve's(housing/disc/stem/rubber)?

I'm applying for a job as a valve engineer and would like to know where to best focus my preperations on (regarding materials used).

Thank you kindly!

321GO,

There are obviously many different materials used, based on the intended application, however I would say the most common are:

Body: Ductile Iron, Cast Iron, Cast Steel (WCB)
Stem: 416SS, 316SS
Disc: Ductile Iron w/ Nickel plating, Aluminum Bronze, 316SS, Nylon coated Ductile Iron, Teflon Coated WCB
Seat: Buna, EPDM, Viton, Teflon

there are many other configurations of course, exotic alloys and such, but the above are staples in the commodity market.

321GO - got your job yet?

if not, you started correct in my opinion, you will find a lot of information searching this forum!

Good luck!

Have send out my application today! (hope for the best)

Thank you!
