I am evaluating a reactor design that would have SO2/SO3 mixtures at about 1000F. What are the alternatives for materials of construction. In a dry system is aluminumized SS necessary?

Even 12% chromium ferritic stainless steels are good to 700C in SO2 environments. If you want protection to 800C, move up to a 16% chromium grade. So, aluminizing is not necessary.
