Maximum allowable tank diameter and height for Biocide Tanks 3

Dear All,

I have to change a Tank design (fluid is Biocide) from 3 m3 (792 Gallon) to 0,4 m3 (106 Gallon).

My questions:
1.- How to set the relation of a maximum allowable tank diameter and height?
2.- Is there any standard to cover that relation ?.

I think API 650 doesn't cover those relation.

Just use an IBC?

0.4 M3 is a very small volume to bother with details like this.

If you really want a vertical cylindrical tank/ pipe then 3:1 h/d would be reasonable.

Remember - More details = better answers

I would guess that most of the tanks in this size range are just bought off-the-shelf, and not designed for any particular environmental load, just treated like a 55-gallon drum.
You COULD check for wind and seismic overturning per ASCE 7 and applicable building codes, and adjust dimensions accordingly. Sliding when empty may require anchorage regardless of dimensions.
