Could somebody help to calculate the maximum flow through a 1" globe valve say 1/2" port size? Basically I have a small barrell with a 0.02 m3 volume at 1440 psig. There is one 1" globe valve connected with the barrel. If I open the globe valve to atmosphere, what would be the maximum flow through it?

Thanks.

I get 5229.298751 scfm initial flow with the full pressure drop, assuming air at 70F(you did not specify) thru a 1" Valtek Mk1 with 0.500 seat ring, Cv 6.5.

By the way: 113 dB, Sonic flow. Wear Earmuffs.

Thanks. Actually this is for fuel gas say SG 0.62. I got a 0.03 m3 barrel. I want to release it to atmosphere via a odor drum as it is a little bit sour, before it goes to odor drum, I want to put an expansion tank. I want to size this tank or vessel. Is there any rule of thumb to do this?

Using Boyle' law; p1V1=P2V2
the gas in the small container you start with will expand to 2.969 m3 when it reaches thermal equilibrium. Initially it will be cool and not expand quite as much.
